USO of Missouri and Schnucks team up for a “summer surge”
ST. LOUIS – Those wanting to give a “touch of home” to America’s service men and women can now do so on their next trip to their neighborhood Schnucks. For four weeks (May 22 – June 18), Schnucks stores will be hosting a “Summer Surge” Personal Care Item Drive offering customers an easy way to donate directly to the troops via the USO of Missouri.
“We are honored to partner with Schnucks to support our troops and their families by providing a touch of home and needed resources,” said USO Development Director Christine Trotter.
According to Schnucks Sales Promotion Coordinator Maria Michelsen while visiting Schnucks, customers can look for $5-prepackaged bags of HBC items directly from the USO’s wish list. “The bag includes one tube of Colgate toothpaste, one Suave deodorant, one Scotties facial tissues pack and two tubes of Chapstick,” Michelsen said. “After purchasing, customers can simply drop the bag off at the marked receptacle near the courtesy center of each store.”

St. Peters' Recycle City collects aluminum cans for our Pennies for Patriots program to support the USO at Lambert International Airport. The collection drive runs from from Nov. 12 each year to Nov. 11 the following year, after which the total cans collected is converted to dollars and a check is presented to the USO.
To donate your aluminum cans to Pennies for Patriots, bring them to St. Peters’ Recycle City and place them in the specially marked dumpster under the American flag in the recyclables drop-off area. For your convenience, there is another Pennies for Patriots collection container located at City Hall outside the Cultural Arts Centre entrance.
